IQ I features a robust yet lightweight body made of Pocan, equipped with integrated threaded inserts for easy mounting in the headshell. Compared to traditional nut-and-bolt mounting, this system significantly improves the mechanical connection between the cartridge body and the headshell.
The internal coils are made of ultra-fine copper wire, and the cantilever is made of a specific grade of aluminum tubing. You may also notice that the cantilever is more robust than those found in this type of moving-magnet cartridge.
The stylus features a Gyger Type I profile, and the entire assembly is detachable, making replacement or upgrading a very simple and cost-effective process. In fact, all IQ stylus assemblies are interchangeable, meaning you can start with the IQ-I and eventually replace the stylus assembly with the vastly superior version used in the IQ-III.
It is designed for use with a moving-magnet compatible phono stage featuring an input impedance of 47k ohms. The total parallel capacitance (including tonearm leads and amplifier capacitance) should not exceed 200pF. If different values for load resistance and capacitance are used, the cartridge’s frequency response may deviate from the specified values.
