ZYX, founded by Hisayoshi Nakatsuka in Japan in 1986, represents three dimensions: Time (Z), Amplitude (Y), and Frequency (X). The ZYX MC cartridge’s “REAL STEREO” design philosophy comprises 15 key design considerations, including magnetism, current, grounding, output terminals, body material (non-magnetic), and cable orientation. ZYX cartridges are divided into three series, all MC cartridges: the flagship high-end Ultimate series, the R50 series, and the MONO series.
All ZYX cartridges are equipped with a proprietary real-time power generation system, which eliminates time axis distortion through the use of multiple patented technologies.
Hisayoshi Nakatsuka is the founder of ZYX. Throughout his career, he designed numerous classic cartridges. While working at Ortofon, he served as a design and development staff member, with his representative work being the Ortofon MC20. After leaving Ortofon, he also designed the Accuphase AC-1, 2, and 3 cartridges, as well as Monster Cable’s Genesis 1000 and 2000. During his time at Trio (Kenwood), he participated in the development of the world’s first optical cartridge. To date, he holds 15 design patents.
