As early as 1965, Tim Paravicini was involved in designing amplifiers for rock bands, crafting his own amplification equipment and modifying studio gear to unlock greater potential. In 1972, he was invited to become an audio designer for Japan's Luxman. Tim swiftly produced several outstanding designs for Luxman, including the remarkable C1000/M6000 preamplifier/power amplifier combination. Later came the LUXMAN 3045. Tim also designed the actual output amplifier and power tube, the 8045. As ever with his designs, the output transformer was of Tim's own design. Since 1976, Tim has designed a wide variety of Hi-Fi and studio components for both Audio Research and other domestic audio companies. Presently, EAR's professional product range includes tube microphone preamplifiers, tube equalizers, and recording/mastering systems – all exemplary classic designs, sometimes incorporating bespoke components and serving some of the world's most renowned recording artists. Within the audio community, his analogue tube mastering recorders enjoy considerable renown. Over the past two decades, Tim has collaborated with numerous manufacturers. He designed the remarkable A-1 power amplifier for Musical Fidelity MF, alongside other products including the A470/370, P270, Digilog, and CD-T.
