P-200
P-200 is a fully functional standalone tube phono preamplifier, employing our implementation of a truly classic and timeless circuit configuration. Its simple and elegant topology and power supply scheme have been successfully used since the “golden age” of Hi-Fi. Triangle Art systematically reviewed every aspect of the design of this tube preamplifier, from the mechanical layout, heavy-duty chassis design, and use of an external power supply, to the meticulous selection of top-quality electronic components and cables, and even the symmetrical signal flow layout of the printed circuit board, all incorporating the brand’s unique “magical touch” and profound audio engineering experience.
Product Features:
P-200 offers three phono inputs: one standard moving magnet (MM) or standard level input, and two moving coil (MC) or low level inputs. Input selection is switched via a front panel switch, allowing you to choose either the MM input or, when switched to MC mode, one of the MC inputs.
Only difference between the MC 1 and MC 2 inputs is the connector specifications: MC 1 uses a standard RCA input, while MC 2 offers an XLR female connector for users who prefer this type of signal cable.
Output signal is available in two independent connector specifications: RCA and XLR.
P-200’s power transformer is independent of the main unit rack and connects to the main unit via an umbilical cable and a dual-rack multi-pin connector.
Power status is indicated by a blue LED indicator built into the power switch on the front panel of the chassis.
Technical details:
This preamplifier uses two identical low-noise transistor gain stages, with a passive RIAA equalization circuit between them. The passive RIAA circuit provides extremely accurate equalization with a deviation of less than 0.5dB. Because it uses passive equalization, there will be no change in response even if the vacuum tube is replaced. This advantage is more significant than that of active equalization, which may become inaccurate when the gain margin is insufficient.
The total gain of the MM input is 45dB. When the MC input is selected, an additional 26dB gain can be provided through a high-quality step-up transformer. The standard input impedance is [value missing].
47 kΩ and 150 picofarads, MC input is approximately 100 Ω. Most MC cartridges are factory compatible with P-200. If specific impedance matching is required (MC is resistive, MM is capacitive), please contact the manufacturer for assistance.
P-200’s three sets of dual triodes are shared across the left and right channels. This design gives users greater flexibility, allowing them to select vacuum tubes according to their personal sound preferences. For example, if a user finds a special vacuum tube (whether antique or current), they can simply install it in the designated position on the circuit board to achieve its maximum performance. If a shared triode architecture is not used, two identical vacuum tubes must be found.
Output end features a buffer design, enabling it to drive almost all standard signal lines.
Power supply system employs a passive design, comprising both a high-voltage power supply and a filament power supply. This is the design choice. Both power supplies undergo rigorous filtering, and the high-voltage power supply system incorporates additional limiting and voltage regulation mechanisms to prevent unnecessary stress on the transistors from power-on surges, but it is still essentially a passive design. The entire circuit uses top-tier electronic components, including Mundorf capacitors and AMRG resistors. All signal lines use silver conductors.
