Audio Research manufactures some of the best components for music reproduction; this is especially true for preamps. In 1973, the SP3 was hailed by critics as the best preamp on the market, a tradition of excellence that continues to this day. Audio Research’s Reference series, first introduced in 1995, represents the ultimate in performance, musicality, and dynamics. The Reference 6SE is the latest chapter in our story.

6SE employs a single gain stage and is a fully balanced, zero-feedback Class A design. In addition to the six long-life 6H30 tubes in the gain stage, the large and highly regulated power supply also includes another 6H30 and 6550 for tube regulation.

Reference 6SE replaces the Reference 6 and offers the highest performance to date in a single-chassis preamplifier. Benefiting from the development of the Reference 160 series amplifiers and the latest Reference 750SEL, the 6SE cleverly incorporates a host of new components into its design. Without these revolutionary amplifiers, the final 6SE would not have been possible
