This 200-watt-per-channel stereo amplifier incorporates cutting-edge technology derived from years of VTL’s research and development. It features a fully balanced differential input stage driving a differential phase splitter and a low-impedance push-pull output stage, complete with custom-designed, fully balanced, interleaved-coupled output transformers. Like other models in the series, this amplifier utilizes VTL’s SmartTube technology—offering automatic bias adjustment and fault detection—making it a favorite among music enthusiasts who value ease of use. With S-200, there is no need for guesswork regarding when or if your tubes require replacement.

To maintain a constant operating point for the output tubes and stabilize critical power supplies—even amidst fluctuations in AC mains voltage—S-200 employs adjustable, precision-regulated bias and plate voltage supplies, thereby ensuring tonal stability and sonic integrity under complex, dynamic signal conditions.

S-200 also features user-adjustable damping factor feedback control, allowing users to fine-tune the amplifier’s output impedance by varying the amount of negative feedback. Impedance can now be precisely set to suit listener preferences and ensure superior control over the speaker load, thereby achieving optimal performance.

With the lowest damping coefficient, the speaker has the best control and the most natural sound.
Medium – Speaker control is good, but it has some impact on sound quality. HI – Best speaker control, with a slightly larger impact on sound quality, but for speakers that require control, the improvement in sound quality is obvious.
S-200 shares sonic characteristics with its “big brother,” MB-450 Series III Signature monoblock power amplifier.
